FMT Clinics/ FMT product Suppliers
This is in not an exhaustive list. These are only the clinics that I am personally aware of that may offer FMT to clients seeking treatment for mental illness. My recommendation would be to google FMT clinics in your state/country in order to find out for yourself whether there are clinics you could potentially access.
However, please note that, to my knowledge, due to strict FDA laws, FMT for mental illness is not available through any clinic in the United States (though it is possible to purchase FMT from providers who ship products within the USA).
Australia
Dr Paul Froomes: Moonee Ponds Victoria (Link to clinic)

Dr Paul Froomes is one of only two gastroenterologists (or clinics) in Australia licensed by the TGA to offer FMT to patients. Historically, he appears to have treated a number of individuals for mental health conditions, particularly anxiety and depression.
In October 2023, a friend of mine with bipolar I disorder was treated by Dr Froomes. Within a short period, she experienced a significant reduction in her bipolar symptoms. Her autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, also went into remission (though it later relapsed), and her Asthma improved to the point where she no longer needed preventative medication. She reduced her psychiatric medications from five to one. Although she had been working full-time, she required three NDIS support workers to manage her daily needs. Four months after starting FMT, she was able to cancel that support. ("Jessica's" story is included in Professor Gordon Parkers book "A Gut Mood Solution")
I also know of two men currently undergoing FMT for bipolar II. One has shown substantial improvement. The other, who has both bipolar disorder and Long COVID, has not improved as much.
Dr Froomes’ protocol typically involves a course of 10 FMT treatments: one administered via colonoscopy and nine delivered at home. Patients can opt out of the colonoscopy if they prefer. He also allows patients to choose the sex of their donor; for example, my friend selected a female donor due to potential hormonal benefits, as she is trying to conceive.
The cost is approximately $500 AUD per FMT.
The Centre for Digestive Diseases (CDD): Sydney (Link to clinic)

Dr Thomas Borody, a global pioneer in fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), was the lead clinician at the Centre for Digestive Diseases (CDD) before his retirement. The clinic now hosts multiple gastrointestinal specialists. While the CDD explicitly states that they do not offer FMT for bipolar disorder, I know of two individuals who received FMT there while seeking treatment for bipolar II disorder (one also reported improvements in ADHD symptoms). In both cases, the patients emphasised gastrointestinal symptoms in order to meet the clinic’s eligibility criteria — something others may also need to consider if pursuing FMT for mental illness through the CDD.
It’s worth noting that a significant number of people with bipolar disorder experience gastrointestinal issues, such as IBS or chronic constipation. Unfortunately, both individuals I know of eventually experienced relapse, which appeared to be triggered by COVID-19 infection and/or high stress. However, one has since returned to remission following additional FMT treatments.
You can read the published case study of one of these individuals here written by Professor Gordon Parker:
Case study – FMT for bipolar disorder.
("Tony's" story features in Professor Gordon Parkers book "A Gut Mood Solution")

The standard protocol at the CDD typically involves around 27 FMT treatments over the course of a year. The first treatment is administered via colonoscopy, with subsequent doses given at home. The clinic usually prescribes antibiotics and a biofilm disruptor prior to FMT. There is little robust scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of this pre-treatment protocol.
The total cost exceeds ~$15,000 AUD (roughly $500+ per treatment).

It is my understanding that Dr Suhirdan Vivekanandrajah, who leads The Sydney Gut Clinic is the gastroenterologist that both patients consulted to receive FMT at the CDD. (Link)

Microbioma: Based in Spain but will ship FMT to Australia (Link to clinic)

I know of a woman in Queensland who, in 2021, ordered FMT capsules from Microbioma, a small stool bank based in Spain, to treat her bipolar I disorder. Remarkably, she experienced significant improvement after taking only 80 capsules. ("Jacky's" story features in Professor Gordon Parkers book "A Gut Mood Solution")
To receive shipments from Microbioma, you would likely need to live in or near a major city, as the FMT products are shipped frozen on dry ice and require reliable delivery infrastructure to remain viable during transit.

Microbioma is operated by Ivan Watson, who reportedly founded the stool bank after dealing with severe health issues of his own — possibly ME/CFS — and becoming dissatisfied with donor quality at other European clinics such as Taymount. Microbioma currently uses around three active donors. Based on my personal network, I know of eight individuals who experienced improvement or remission of mental health symptoms after using Microbioma’s FMT products. However, a few have since relapsed.
That said, results are mixed. The FMT protocol did not work at all for one man with bipolar I or for his sister, who has generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), despite trying both capsules and enemas. Interestingly, analysis of the main male donor’s stool suggested that his microbiome is not especially diverse or notably “healthy” by typical clinical standards — yet his stool has still worked for a number of people. Microbioma’s most recent donor is a woman with a reportedly diverse microbiome, which may make her a more effective donor. Personally, I would want to review a metagenomic analysis of any donor’s microbiome before proceeding.
In the United States, one woman in Texas reports that multiple family members have had success with Microbioma capsules. She treated her OCD, her husband went into remission from major depressive disorder (MDD), her brother-in-law with bipolar II and schizoaffective disorder saw dramatic improvement, and her sister experienced relief from GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder). It’s unclear whether these improvements have been sustained.
In the UK, I know of one man with bipolar II and significant gastrointestinal issues who used Microbioma and saw dramatic results, though I’m unsure whether he used pills, enemas, or both. Another young man with bipolar II began with six enemas, which led to partial symptom relief. A year later, he followed up with Microbioma capsules and now reports full remission.
In Toronto, Canada, another man with bipolar II saw success after taking FMT capsules. However, he also drastically changed his diet and stopped drinking alcohol, so it’s uncertain how much of the improvement was due to FMT versus lifestyle changes.
That said, there are at least three cases where Microbioma did not lead to lasting improvement. One woman in the U.S. with mixed-state bipolar disorder saw short-term benefits, but not long-term remission. She also tried two other donors (not from Microbioma) without success, suggesting either that FMT may be less effective for this subtype of bipolar disorder or that she may not respond to FMT in general. The other two cases of non-response were mentioned earlier.
Microbioma’s FMT products are prepared in a lab in Spain and shipped on dry ice. Once received, the capsules are stored in a home freezer and taken directly frozen. Enemas are typically defrosted in the refrigerator or a water bath prior to use. Customers can purchase either capsules or enemas, and there’s also the option of “mini” half-dose enemas for those who wish to stretch out their treatments over time.
The current cost is approximately $2,095 USD or €1,995 for a standard package of six 150ml enemas or 120 capsules. Shipping is charged separately. Ivan is known for his excellent customer service and is quick to replace shipments if they thaw in transit.

Human Microbes: Based in USA but will ship to Australia (Link)

Human Microbes was founded by Michael John Harrop, who also moderates several Reddit forums focused on FMT and the microbiome. As of now, I don’t personally know anyone who has used Human Microbes donors to treat mental illness. From what I understand, Human Microbes does not manufacture FMT products (with the possible exception of capsules); instead, it functions as a platform where Michael connects customers directly with donors. The donors then ship their stool — typically frozen on dry ice — and recipients are expected to prepare the FMT themselves.
The cost is $1,000 USD per stool, which is reportedly divided into 10 doses. In my opinion, this is quite expensive, especially considering that additional shipping costs are not included. I assume Michael provides the donor’s medical screening information, including results of blood and stool tests, to verify safety — though prospective users should request this information explicitly.
I do know of one person who ordered capsules from Human Microbes. Unfortunately, the shipment arrived spoiled due to insufficient dry ice, and Michael refused to issue a refund. Because of this, I would strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance to avoid losing money if your package is compromised in transit. In this case, the capsules this person received were not enteric-coated, meaning they would likely dissolve in the stomach rather than reaching the intestines, which severely limits their effectiveness and in my opinion is potentially dangerous.
If you are considering FMT capsules, it is essential to confirm that they are enteric-coated to ensure proper delivery to the gut.
It’s also worth noting that Human Microbes operates outside of FDA regulations in the U.S., and the legality of the service is questionable (I’m frankly surprised the FDA hasn’t intervened yet and shut down this website).
North America

The United States has some of the strictest regulations regarding FMT, with clinics legally permitted to offer the treatment only for recurrent Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infections. As a result, individuals seeking FMT for other conditions — such as mental illness — are unable to access it through licensed clinics within the country. This has led many U.S. citizens to either travel overseas for treatment or purchase FMT products or donor stool through private providers operating outside the clinical system. The situation appears to be similar in Canada, where access is also highly restricted.

Novelbiome: (Link to clinic)

Their website does not specify a location, but it appears that Novelbiome is based in Mexico. Historically, they have primarily provided FMT to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and I’ve come across numerous anecdotal accounts of U.S. families flying to Mexico to access treatment for their children. It’s unclear whether Novelbiome currently offers FMT for mental health conditions.
Europe/UK

Taymount - UK: (Link to clinic)
The Ten-Day FMT Programme at Taymount costs £5,175 and includes 10 FMT treatments from 10 different donors, along with complimentary follow-up consultations for one year. I know one person who underwent FMT at Taymount for Long COVID, who also experienced co-occurring depression and anxiety. They reported a very positive experience and saw significant improvement. However, I don’t yet personally know anyone who has received FMT from Taymount specifically for a mental health condition.

Open-source Biome - UK: (Link to clinic)

They seem to offer freeze-dried FMT capsules. I don’t know anyone who has purchased FMT from this company.
IPPM: Institute Predictive Personalised Medicine - Slovakia: (Link to clinic)

I don’t know anyone who has used this clinic for mental illness. There seems to be a few people on the Facebook FMT forums who have accessed FMT here.
Dr Dariusz Korolik - Poland: (Link to page)

€500 for 1 FMT. They only accepts payment in cash (which is very odd and is a red flag for me).
I don’t know anyone who has accessed FMT from this doctor/clinic for mental illness.
The Gut Brain Coach - Germany: (Link to page)

Hannah Bensen is a psychologist and gut-brain coach who supports individuals through the FMT process, including donor screening and testing. She may also maintain a list of pre-screened donors who are open to providing stool for FMT—it’s best to contact her directly for more information. Her website is in German, but you can easily translate it using Google Translate. While I don’t personally know anyone who has used her services, I understand that some of her clients have pursued FMT for mental health conditions.
Gezonde Darmflora - Netherlands: (Link to website)

This is a small patient led FMT stool bank with currently 2 donors who ship FMT capsules and enema within Europe. (€500 for 24 capsules €250 for 1 Enema). I don’t know anyone who has used this service.

This appears to be a stool bank that provides FMT to a variety of clinics. It seems FMT may be available in these clinics for mental illness. It is quite expensive (6 transplants for ï¿¥2,640,000)
Asia Microbiota Bank - Hong Kong: (Link to clinic)

“As a policy, the Asia Microbiota Bank does not endorse or support the use of Human Microbiota Transplant for the treatment of ex-gut (non-gut) related conditions. AMB does support the treatment of gut conditions in patients which also have a related condition or gut-mediated condition.” (If you have a comorbidity of gut issues with your mental health issues it seems they may give you access to FMT). I am unsure of the cost of FMT through this provider.
I don’t know anyone who has accessed FMT in this clinic.
